Where automation helps, and where it has to stop

Automated tools are good at narrowing a large amount of roadway activity down to the events worth looking at. They are not the right thing to hand a decision to.

There is a version of this technology that sounds impressive and is unusable, and it is the version where the software decides. The useful version is narrower and considerably more honest about where it ends.

What automation supports

Identification, classification, organization and validation. Narrowing hours of roadway activity down to the events a person should look at is work automation is genuinely good at, and work no organization has the staff to do by hand.

What it does not do

Whether an event proceeds, and what the response is, remains with an authorized reviewer inside the organization. Nothing here determines guilt or a legal outcome, and no claim to the contrary should be made on behalf of the platform.
